Attention, homeowners! March is busy, especially when celebrating special events for the next 31 days. But don’t fret; the team at ARS/Rescue Rooter is here to keep you organized.
While you know March is the perfect time to schedule your annual HVAC tune-up, you may not be aware of the following dates. Here are six events you may want to add to your calendar this month.
Important Calendar Dates in March
Ash Wednesday, March 5
Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent. While some people give up certain habits during this time, be sure you don’t give up calling us for heating and cooling services! We are here to take your calls seven days a week.
International Women’s Day, March 8
International Women’s Day is a global day to celebrate women's achievements. One major accomplishment is the steadily increasing percentage of women in the trades. In fact, in 2022, the number of women in trade apprenticeships had doubled since 2014.
Daylight Savings Time, March 9
Daylight Savings Time is the perfect time to reevaluate your home’s safety. We like to use it as a reminder to check home smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors and ensure they are working properly. It’s also a great time to change the air filters and vacuum return vents.
St. Patrick’s Day, March 17
There’s never a better time to “go green” than St. Patrick’s Day! Here are some extra tips for putting that green back in your wallet:
- Adjust your thermostat by a degree or two.
- As spring approaches, turn those ceiling fans counterclockwise to help keep air cooler.
- Seal air leaks with weather stripping.
First Day of Spring, March 20
In some areas of the country, March 20 doesn’t always feel like spring, but according to the calendar, it is the official start! The launch of spring is a great reminder to organize your home and complete some spring-cleaning tasks. Pack up unused clothing and toys and consider donating them. We also recommend doing a whole-home cleaning. Lastly, don’t forget to call ARS for your annual HVAC service tune-up.
Borrowing Days, March 29-31
According to Scottish folklore, the last three days of March have a reputation of being stormy. These days are referred to as “Borrowing Days” because the first three days of April were “borrowed” for March so that she could retain her power. To protect your home from storms at the end of March, consider investing in a whole home generator for your house. Generators are the best way to safeguard your loved ones during unpredictable electrical storms and power outages.
