ARS/Rescue Rooter Illinois installed a water heater, HVAC system and Google Home products to a veteran in need on March 22nd, 2018. Robert Talbot, a Marine veteran, was struggling to afford the updates he needed to make his home comfortable during the cold snap; therefore, ARS/Rescue Rooter Illinois alleviated that stress for Robert by donating everything he needed for heat, air conditioning and hot water in his home.
Robert Talbot was a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and toured Iraq in 2006. His home’s 20-year-old furnace was not working, but as he is in school full time, affording a new system was not a possibility. When Robert called ARS, the employees noticed he was struggling. “My team went to visit Mr. Talbot’s home, and he was using several space heaters to warm his house,” recalls Scott Toomey, General Manager of ARS/Rescue Rooter Illinois. “Mr. Talbot is an outstanding person in our community and a hero to our country. When we discovered he was struggling to finance the updates he needed, we wanted to make it happen for him.”
The team from ARS arrived at Robert’s home over the weekend and surprised him with a water heater, HVAC system, and Google Home products. Robert notes, “This means so much to me. I’m ecstatic!”
In addition to the efforts in Chicago, ARS service centers across the country will be donating HVAC units and water heaters to families in need in their communities. To learn more about ARS Cares, visit ars.com.
