The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 was signed February 17, 2009 by President Obama. This act provided additional tax credits above those available in 2008. The new tax credits are designed to assist the home owner improve the energy efficiency of their home and a number of air conditioning, heating and water heaters qualify. Currently these credits are good for up to $1500 or 30% of the installed cost and must be installed in your principal residence by December 31, 2010 (for most items).
HVAC TAX CREDITS

WATER HEATER TAX CREDITS
Tired of waiting for your turn to get a shower because someone used up the hot water? A tankless water heater heats water on demand and takes less space than a conventional 40 gallon water heater. These energy efficient units only heat the water when you need it and many qualify for tankless water heater tax credits as well.
The tax credits for HVAC and water heaters have had several revisions since the act was first passed so we recommend checking with your tax preparer on the proper information you need to take advantage of air conditioning tax credits this summer or heating tax credits this fall.
