Pipe Repairs

Professional care, repair and replacement for your home's pipes

You’ll need an experienced plumber to remove the bad pipes, dispose of them properly and install new pipes. The old ways aren't always the best! If your home was built before 1970, the pipes may be galvanized iron (iron pipes coated with zinc). Unfortunately, the zinc coating eventually wears off and your pipes can then rust and build up nasty corrosion.

Low pressure warning. When this corrosion occurs, your water pressure will begin to drop, you will see a brown tint in your bath or sink water, and your water-using appliances might even be damaged.

Replacing corroded pipes. If you find yourself in this situation, your pipes need to be replaced with copper or PVC. Unfortunately, this is not a simple matter. You’ll need an experienced plumber to remove the bad pipes, dispose of them properly and install new pipes. Once your pipes are replaced, you’ll enjoy stronger showers, cleaner drinking water and more efficient appliances.

Pinhole leaks. Copper pipes can present another problem, namely pinhole leaks which may be caused by corrosive  water and the quality of the copper pipe itself.  These leaks are not always easily detected, but signs include damp spots in your drywall and floor, reduced water pressure and flow, and rusty or
discolored water.

Contact your local ARS® / Rescue Rooter® plumbing professional for an expert evaluation of your pipes if you have low water pressure, rusty water or leaky pipes.

Preventing frozen pipes.

When water freezes, it is one of nature’s most powerful forces. It can easily crack or burst your home’s pipes and create a plumbing emergency you don’t want.

Here are a few tips to help you prevent pipes from freezing:

  • Insulate any pipes (even hot water lines) in unheated areas, such as basements, attics or garages. Pipes that run along exterior walls without adequate insulation frequently freeze.
  • Use an indoor shutoff to keep water out of outdoor hose bibs, and drain pool and sprinkler lines.
  • In extremely cold periods, letting water trickle from your faucets can prevent frozen pipes.
  • Open cabinet doors to expose pipes to warmer indoor temperatures.

Contact your local ARS® / Rescue Rooter® plumbing professional immediately if you suspect the water in your pipes has frozen. Quick action might save your home from serious damage.
